Safety & Training

Our goal at Chapter 1986 is not just to ride our bikes, but to do it safely and skillfully. Whether you are an about-to-be rider, new rider or experienced rider, skill and safety should be the focus of your riding. Our experienced members are more than happy to help newer riders understand these concepts & techniques.

Below are resources to help you get your endorsement, guides for safe riding, and information on developing your riding skills.

Soon-to-be rider

If you are not yet a motorcycle rider but are thinking about it, it is helpful to do some research on safe riding, riding skills, & testing to obtain your motorcycle endorsement.

Motorcycle Safety Foundation testing courses are available across the country, & these weekend courses introduce you to motorcycle basic operation, safe riding, and slow speed skills needed to obtain your endorsement. Courses can be scheduled through ABATE, as well as many motorcycle dealerships.

Indiana BMV has information and downloadable material on getting your motorcycle permit & endorsement. There are also many websites online that let you to take practice tests for a permit.

Safe Riding & skill development

It is critical as a rider to understand and develop safe riding practices, as well as develop your riding skills. There are several YouTube channels and websites that focus on these areas, and they can be a valuable resource to help you gain safety and riding skills. Here are a few of them.

The goal of MCrider is to help you become a better motorcycle rider. MCrider offers a new motorcycle training video every Friday morning, focusing on motorcycle road strategy and road skills to help you improve your skill as a rider.
